３月１８日，トルドー首相は，カナダ・米国間で不要不急の渡航を一時的に概略以下のとおり制限する旨発表しました。なお，この制限の具体的な開始日時については，近く発表される予定とのことです。
（１）カナダ・米国間ですべての不要不急の渡航を一時的に制限する。旅行者がレクリエーションや観光のために国境を越えることは許可されない。
（２）ただし，カナダ・米国間のサプライチェーンは維持され，不可欠な渡航については影響を受けない。
また，１８日，ブリティッシュ・コロンビア（ＢＣ）州政府は，新型コロナウイルス感染拡大を受けて，非常事態宣言(state of emergency)を発表しました。また，ユーコン準州も公衆衛生上の非常事態宣言を同じく１８日に発表し，公立学校の休校や公共施設の閉鎖について発表しました。
ＢＣ州でも新型コロナウイルス感染者が累計で２３１人(３月１８日現在)と日々増加している上，ＢＣ州内の様々な地域で新たな感染者が発生しています。また，各地方自治体でも感染拡大防止のための様々な措置が相次いで発表されています。州政府，地方自治体及び各保健局の最新情報を収集しつつ，手洗いの励行などの感染症対策をこれまで以上に徹底するなどして，引き続き感染予防に努めてください。
